The journey here started with a flight from Samui to Phuket... and then a 5-hour wait before boarding a flight to Madrid, via Dubai (3 hour layover).
From the airport in Madrid it was a bus ride to the train station and then a 4-hour wait for the train to Pamplona which took 3.5 hours through the scenic Spanish countryside.
Arriving in Pamplona I felt as though I never received the memo about a dress code - I must have been the only person not wearing red and white for St Fermin Festival. The streets were buzzing with people celebrating, from groups of students to families with children in pushchairs watching the spectacular fireworks show.
Thanks to technology and Google maps I found my Albergue - but getting through the band and dancers playing literally in the doorway and a road sticky with spilt beer was a challenge to say the least!
Now for a good night's sleep and tomorrow a bit of exploring and a stop at Caminoteca for some trekking poles.
Tomorrow's post will be full of pictures... no time for pictures today.
Good night. Lights out.
